Traditionally inked, digitally colored comic. Three panels. The first is an establishing shot, showing a Jōnin party with Kakashi, Yamato, and Gai in the foreground, and Asuma, Iruka, and Kurenai in the background. Gai is leaning heavily on Kakashi, face beet read, and Kakashi is smiling and waving at Yamato, looking a little sheepish. Gai’s hair is notably extremely messy. “Yo, Yamato!” Kakashi says. Yamato emits a little speech bubble with only a question mark. “Can Gai hang out with you for a bit? I have to go talk to Genma about something,” Kakashi says. In the second panel, Kakashi is passing Gai from his shoulder to Yamato’s arms, Yamato catches him, looking mildly surprised. “He got into a drinking contest with Shizune,” Kakashi explains. “Whoa.” Yamato says In large, wobbling, disorganized text, Gai says “AND WON!” In tiny text, Kakashi adds “Yes. And won,” “Oh, well done, Gai-Senpai,” Yamato says. In the third panel, Gai is leaning on Yamato’s shoulder heavily, and Yamato is looking at him with some concern. “Ah,” Yamato says. “Gai, you seem like you’re about to fall asleep. Let’s go sit down.”

Now on a couch, Yamato sits with one leg on the floor, the other crossed on his lap. He steadies Gai, pressing one hand into his chest. “There. How’s—“ he starts to ask, but Gai cuts him off. With unsteady, wobbling letters, Gai says “Yamato, Lissen.” Yamato looks at Gai with serious concern, and a sweat drop. “Y—yes?” He asks. “I’m,” Gai starts, face flushed, eyes focused somewhere in the distance. In the next panel, Gai’s head drops. “Gonna nap,” Gai concludes. He drops into Yamato’s lap, nestling his head in the crook of Yamato’s knee, resting his hand on Yamato’s shin. “Ah,” Yamato says. His hand is hovering unsurely around Gai’s head, and a small panel cuts away to show us his unsureness, before finally he finally brings his hand to rest on Gai’s head with a soft “tmp.”

Yamato is looking down at Gai with a soft, but focused look on his face, almost a little wistful. “Oh, Look…your hair is a mess,” Yamato says. With one hand resting on Gai’s back, he began to pet the other through Gai’s hair, trying to smooth it back into place. “Here…I’ll just…” Yamato says.

Three descending panels show us Yamato’s movements as he cards his hands through Gai’s hair, first gently petting the stray strands back into place, then running locks of hair through his fingers like a comb, and then finally petting it all back into Gai’s regular shape. A final panel shows Gai resting in Yamato’s lap, head turned outward, his hand on Yamato’s calf and Yamato’s hands on his back and head. Sleepilly, Gai hums a collection of bouncy “M”’s in a buoyant speech bubble.

A large panel which only has one image of Yamato, smiling contentedly downward. “There,” he says, “that looks right.”

Another single panel, this time Yamato has closed his eyes, and his shoulders are dropped at a relaxed angle, behind him there’s a radiating nimbus of light and soft, bright flowers indicating a contented joy. “Ah, this is nice,” Yamato thinks. “Comfortable even…” Laying heavily in his lap, Gai’s mouth is slightly open and he’s snoring softly.

There’s a large black space which fills up half of this next image, to imply a break in time. Anko is standing with a crooked smile and a mischievous excitement in her eyebrows, and she’s pointing at something just out of the panel. “Whoa-ho! Kakashi, get over here!” She says. Behind her, Genma is smirking and slouching. “Aw,” Genma coos just a little sarcastically, “Well don’t they look Comfortable.” Behind him, Kakashi is entering the room with his hands in his pockets, making a noise of curiosity. Kurenai is beside him, also looking a little intrigued.

Anko laughs. “I can’t believe Gai got wasted at Jōnin night!” She says, patting Kakashi’s shoulder as Kakashi approaches his friends. Behind him, Genma is wiggling his senbon in his mouth. “Well, Gai has always been a sucker for a good challenge…even as a Genin…” Genma says, muttering “Don’t even get me started…” As though she didn’t hear him, Anko continues, looking back at Gai and Yamato again, and covering her hand with her mouth somewhat factitiously. “And OHHH-SOOO-PROPER Captain Yamato, Snuggling with Gai…” She says. Kakashi continues approaching his friends. “Hey, Hang on,” Genma says. “Kakashi, what are you doing?” “Joining them for a nap,” Kakashi says.

True to his word, Kakashi begins to navigate his way onto the couch, around their bodies. Yamato is sleeping now at this point, still holding onto Gai, and Gai is still cuddled up in Yamato’s lap. As though muttering to himself, Kakashi says, “I can just…scoot around Gai, next to Yamato…” “Hey!” Genma yells. “Put Gai’s legs on my lap…” Kakashi says. “Go home!” Genma says. “Party’s over! Cuddle somewhere else!” Now having woken up, a little dazed, and adjusting his Happuri, Yamato looks sleepily at Kakashi. “H—Whah?” Yamato says. “Ack, I fell asleep?” He mutters after. “Kakashi-Senpai?” “Yep,” Kakashi says cheerily, smiling, putting an arm around Yamato’s shoulder, and a hand on Gai’s waist. “You can go back to sleep, Yamato.” “Hey!” Genma yells.
